2 Dead Following Shooting In St. Pete Parking Lot

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Three men were shot and two died at the hospital following a shooting in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at 18th Avenue South and 34th Street South at 9:41 p.m. Monday.

Police say about 100 people were gathered in the parking lot for a celebration following the St. Petersburg Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade when the shots were fired.

The third man shot, Carlos Demetrius Young, 44, is in stable condition.

Killed were Roger Lee Ford Jr., 42, and Tywan Jeremiah Armstrong, 39.

St. Pete Police public information officer Yolanda Fernandez said police believe the three men were targeted and don't think the public is in any danger. Nevertheless, there is a manhunt on to find the shooter.

The parade attracted an estimated 40,000 spectators. No arrests were made.
