St. Pete Police Shut Down Suspected Drug House

An emergency visit to the hospital by a gunshot victim has resulted in St. Petersburg Police shutting down a suspected drug house.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – An emergency visit to the hospital by a gunshot victim has resulted in St. Petersburg Police shutting down a suspected drug house.

On Monday morning, Jan. 29, police were alerted when Matthew Chappell, 28, was dropped off at St. Petersburg General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot.

When police questioned him, they discovered he’d accidentally shot himself at a suspected drug house at 4742 6th Ave. N.

St. Petersburg Police officers had been investigating the house after receiving a number of complaints about possible illegal activity there. Chappell’s gunshot wound gave them probable cause to obtain a search warrant and enter the house.

During the search, officers 91.7 grams of methamphetamine (trafficking amount), as well as hydromorphone and marijuana.

Chappell was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

Also arrested in connection with methamphetamine and hydromorphone found at the house were Sierra Carlson, 26; Jaime Patton, 32; and Ronald Mount, 47.
