St. Pete Police Still Searching For Driver Who Killed Navy Vet
Police released surveillance video of a late-model white sedan they believed struck and killed Marcelo Benedicto, who was in a wheelchair.
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA – St. Petersburg Police remain on the look-out for the driver a late model white sedan that authorities struck and killed a U.S. Navy veteran in a wheelchair earlier this week.
The police department tweeted out surveillance video of the car they believe was involved in the accident on Sunday night in the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue. The car hit Marcelo Benedicto, 79, at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday investigators said.

After the vehicle crashed into the victim, it left the location, according to officers. Benedicto died at the scene of the hit-and-run, deputies said. Police closed Fifth Avenue North in both directions from the Interstate—275 ramp for several hours following the crash
