St. Pete Woman On Motor Scooter Killed In Crash

A St. Petersburg woman riding a motor scooter was killed Sunday, Sept. 23, by a driver accused of running a red light.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A St. Petersburg woman riding a motor scooter was killed Sunday, Sept. 23, by a driver accused of running a red light.

According to St. Petersburg Police, Vallis Ann Oswain, 58, was driving her motor scooter north on 8th Street North at 2:22 a.m. with 30-year-old Daniel Jay Foreman riding on the back.

Police say Harshit Srivastava, 30, was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta west on 5th Avenue North approaching the intersection of 8th Street North when he reportedly drove through the red light at the intersection and crashed into the motor scooter, which was proceeding on a green light.

Both Oswain and Foreman were thrown off the scooter. Oswain was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where she was pronounced dead.
