St. Petersburg Man Leaps To His Death Trying To Escape Police
A 33-year-old domestic violence suspect reportedly jumped into the Boca Ciega Bay while handcuffed.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man leapt to his death in a bid to escape police custody Sunday night, according to the Treasure Island Police Department.
A handcuffed Donnie Brownlow Jr., 33, jumped into Boca Ciega Bay Sunday night while trying to escape officers who had arrested him on suspicion of domestic battery, obstruction, felony driving while license is suspended/revoked, and violation of probation, ABC Tampa Bay reported.
Brownlow Jr. had broken free from officers as they escorted them to a transport van to take him from the police department to jail, according to authorities. A short time later, paramedics from the Treasure Island Fire Department fished him out of the water and attempted CPR to no avail, ABC reported.

Brownlow was pronounced dead at Palms of Pasadena Hospital , and an autopsy is pending.
