The former CEO of a Tampa nonprofit for pets will serve 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to bilking a pet insurance company out of nearly $13,000. Albert Lonzo Adams III, who ran Soaring Paws, pleaded guilty to 10 felony fraud charges.

Volunteers who want to help with dead marine life cleanup efforts can dump rotted fish bodies in a Dumpster at one of seven waterfront park locations in St. Petersburg. Staffers have worked around the clock for about 15 days removing dead fish that have mostly been killed by the red tide.

Comfort Dogs Help Recovery Team At Florida Condo Collapse Site

Golden retriever dogs have been in Surfside, Florida, over the past few weeks as a way to provide comfort to those impacted by the June 24 condo collapse. The Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry sent nine golden retrievers from across the South and Midwest to the Champlain Towers South to help first responders working on the recovery and rescue mission.
