Student Brought Gun To St. Pete Charter School: Police

A gun was found in the locker of a 17-year-old student at MycroSchool Pinellas Charter High School, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An 11th grader was arrested and faces charges after bringing a gun onto campus at MycroSchool Pinellas Charter High School at 840 3rd Ave. S., according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

The 17-year-old boy, who wasn’t named, was charged with possession of a weapon on school property and possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years of age, police said.

The school safety officer found the gun in the teen’s locked and called police.

No threats were made to the school or other students, SPPD said.

“The St. Petersburg Police (Department) makes the safety of students a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, is thoroughly investigated,” the agency said.
