Sunshine Get Down, Honor Flight Fundraiser, Maifest: FL Weekend Events

FLORIDA — Looking for something fun to do this weekend? There’s something for every interest — a Big Cat Habitat fundraiser, the Sunshine Get Down, an Honor Flight fundraiser, an Afro-fusion food and beer pairing.

Mega Pet Adoption Event

Pasco County Animal Services is hosting a three-day Mega Adoption Event Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Strawberry Festival Fairgrounds in Plant City. Fees will be waived to take home any of the hundreds of adoptable dogs looking for a “furever” home, according to a county news release.

Sunshine Get Down at Florida Sand

The second annual Sunshine Get Down at Florida Sand Music Ranch (formerly Sertoma) in Brooksville offers three days of live music on two stages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. RV/electric sites and primitive camping available plus vendors, food trucks, Name That Grateful Dead Tune Contest, jams and more.

Best Ball Tournament

The International Chrysalis Art & Music Education hosts its inaugural Best Ball Tournament, a charity golf fundraiser, Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to noon, at the Mainlands Golf Course in Pinellas Park.

Venice Brew Fest

Enjoy good beer and live music at the Venice Brew Fest, which takes place Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Centennial Park.

Maifest and May Dance

The German-American Society in Pinellas Park hosts a Maifest celebration Saturday, noon to 7 p.m., followed by a May Dance. The event will feature live music and dancing, German food and beer, games, and vendors.

Felid Fest

This fundraiser for Sarasota’s Big Cat Habitat takes place Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. Enjoy guest speakers, presentations, interactivities, and food and drinks.

Brazilian Festival

Tampa’s annual Brazilian Festival takes place Saturday, noon to 10 p.m., at 1701 N. Highland Ave. The event features international acts, samba dancers, kids’ rides, exhibitors and Brazilian cuisine.

Raprager Farm Country Fest

Odessa’s Raprager Farm offers an afternoon of country music from Wheelhouse Duo and Lee Cole and the Wranglers on Saturday, 1 to 9 p.m. The $25 general admission includes one free drink. Other activities include a mechanical bull, hayrides, an animal petting zoo, a butterfly garden, ax throwing, an 80-foot bounce pillow, a 2,000-square-foot children’s fort and more.

Tampa Bay Rum Experience

The first-ever Tampa Bay Rum Experience offers an afternoon of tastings with craft brands from Florida on Saturday, 2 to 6 p.m., at Dwell Home Market in Tampa.

Afro-Fusion Beer and Food Pairing

BeyLoved Pairings presents an Afro-fusion five-course beer and food pairinglunch, highlighting Afro-Fusion cuisine along with Caribbean and Latin flavors, Saturday, noon, at Webb’s City Cellar in St. Petersburg. A portion of ticket sales will go towards Beer Kulture Inc, a non-profit working to bring greater diversity, equity and inclusion into the craft beverage industry.

Blooms Day

In honor of May Day, businesses in St. Pete’s Grand Central District have teamed up to give out free flower bouquets for anyone who stops by Grand Central Brewhouse on Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

Honor Flight Fundraiser

The OCC Road House & Museum in Clearwater hosts a fundraiser for Honor Flight of West Central Florida, which flies veterans for free to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials built in their honor, on Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m. The Zac Brown Band Experience will perform and there will be opportunities to win prizes from local businesses, sports teams and attractions.
