Superintendent Stewart Loses Interim Title
While 'interim' was removed from the Pinellas County School District Superintendent's title, the district is still looking for a permanent replacement.

In what can be seen as an act of confidence – or maybe semantics – the title interim was removed for Pinellas County Schools Superintendent John Stewart.
According to the districts Director of Communications, Andrea Zahn, on Monday the Pinellas County School Board “reaffirmed its commitment to Dr. Stewart.”
"I’m kind of a transparent fellow," Dr. Stewart said in an interview with Patch in September. "I think what you see is what you get.”

Prior to becoming the district's superintendent, Stewart was deputy superintendent of Pinellas County Schools and Superintendent of Polk County Schools.
When Stewart, 67, replaced in September he said he was willing to come out of retirement for 18 months to aid the district in its transition process to find a permanent superintendent.

The “interim” removal does not change his timeline, the district said.
“He’s always said he’s only going to be here 18 months,” Zahn said.
“My next career move will be to go back to Polk County and retire,” he told Patch in September.
