Suspected Suicide Under Investigation in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The St Petersburg Police Department tonight is investigating what appears to be a suicide in a wooded area.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a woman walking her dog discovered the body of an adult female in a wooded mangrove area near 4th Street North north of 119th Avenue North, police said.

"At this stage of the investigation, detectives have reason to believe she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound," the department said.
