Tampa Bay-Area Bookstores Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day April 27

On the last Saturday of April, shops in the Tampa Bay area celebrate Independent Bookstore Day with author visits, special sales and more.

TAMPA BAY, FL — On the last Saturday of April, communities across the country come together to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day.

Many of the participating stores are selling exclusive books and literary items Saturday, while others host events, including contests, author visits and more.

A number of Tampa Bay-area bookstores are among those celebrating this year’s 11th annual Independent Bookstore Day.

In Safety Harbor, Portkey Books will host both “Dragon and Donuts: ‘Iron Flame’ Book Club” and Crescent City & Croissants: ‘House of Flame and Shadow’ Book Club. Tombolo Books in St. Petersburg will host a kids’ book sale, a Mammamia Gelato pop-up, storytime with author Natalia Sylvester and an interactive storytime with the Sparks Collaborative Ensemble.

Bookstore1Sarasota will host a local author book fair Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sixteen writers are participating in the event.
