Two Cars Crash Into St. Pete Home

St. Petersburg police are searching for the driver of a 2020 Ford Fusion who left the scene after crashing into a home.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two cars crashed into the front porch of a St. Petersburg home on Sunday night after the vehicles lost control and ran into each other at a nearby intersection, said a news release.

St. Pete police said that shortly before 11 p.m., a 2016 gray Dodge Charger traveled northbound on 16th Street South as a 2020 silver Ford Fusion drove eastbound on 14th Avenue South, and they crashed into each other where the streets intersect. Authorities are looking for the driver of the 2020 Fusion who left the scene after the crash.

According to police, both cars swerved off the road and hit a home on the 1300 block of 16th Street South. Residents inside the home were not injured, officials said, but those inside the cars were.

Investigators do not believe either of the cars was stolen.

A 36-year-old-man and 40-year-old man inside the Fusion experienced serious injuries but are reported as being in stable condition. A 23-year-old woman in the Fusion had minor injuries, and a 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old woman in the Charger experienced minor injuries. All victims were transported to a nearby hospital.

Due to Marsy's law, the identity of the victims will not be released. Police have not released details about the driver who left the scene.
