Eastbound Gandy Lanes Now Open
The Florida Department of Transportation is reporting heavy congestion on Interstate 275 and the Gandy Bridge.
Update: The Tampa Police Department reports that eastbound lanes on Gandy Boulevard have reopened. Further information about the vehicle fire is not yet available.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Florida Department of Transportation reports a vehicle fire in Pinellas County is creating blockage on the Gandy Bridge and heavy congestion on Interstate 275 Wednesday afternoon.

According to FDOT’s FL511 Tampa Bay Twitter account, the fire has all eastbound lanes closed on the Gandy Bridge.
“Expect major delays and seek alternate routes,” the agency reported.

The Tampa Police Department reports there were no injuries related to the fire that has closed the bridge in the eastbound direction.
As for I-275, FDOT says heavy congestion is a problem on I-275 south from Exit 30 Roosevelt Boulevard to beyond the Gandy Boulevard Exit.
