Woman Accused In Fatal Stabbing In St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police are investigating a fatal stabbing at an apartment on Burlington Avenue North.

At 2:02 a.m., police received a call from Rafiu O. Ashimi, 73, at 3201 Burlington Ave. N. who said he caught a woman who was visiting his apartment doing drugs in his bathroom.

When officers arrived, they could hear a struggle inside, so they forced their way in and found Tomeka Colin, 36, with Ashimi, who had multiple stab wounds.

Ashimi received first aid but did not survive. Colin was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
