Woman's Friend ‘Unknowingly’ Backs Over Her With Car: St. Pete Police

An 80-year-old woman is dead after her friend "unknowingly" backed over her with a car, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An 80-year-old woman is dead after her friend “unknowingly” backed over her with a car Wednesday afternoon, according to a St. Petersburg police news release.

Around 12:30 p.m., a woman dropped off her two friends in the 5100 block of 5th Ave. N. While backing out of the driveway, she unknowingly hit and backed over Eileen O’Shea, 80, police said.

O’Shea suffered life-threatening injuries and was brought to a local hospital. She later died from her injuries.

The driver, who hasn’t been named, is cooperating with authorities. She currently faces no criminal charges, according to police.
