Yoga for the Turtles, Saturday June 11

Fundraiser beach yoga class to benefit Clearwater Marine Aquarium's Sea Turtle Conservation Program

On Saturday June 11, 2022 Madeira Beach Yoga will host an all-levels community yoga class to benefit Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s (CMA) Sea Turtle Conservation Program. The Yoga for the Turtles event takes place on the sandy beach at Archibald Park in Madeira Beach, 15100 Gulf Boulevard from 8:30am-9:45am. The class will be followed by a brief Turtle Talk from CMA’s Lindsey Flynn, Sea Turtle Conservation Program Manager. This is the third year for the event and organizers Sherry Duquet and Sandy Boulton. Madeira Beach Yoga owners, look forward to its return after a hiatus for pandemic restrictions.

“Sea turtle nesting season has just begun and it is important that beachgoers are
aware of the risks to turtles and how to be good stewards of their nests when they
encounter one. We have the unique privilege of sharing yoga with students daily on the
shore of the Gulf of Mexico at Archibald Park and we love to see their enthusiasm about
the turtle nests each season, locals and visitors alike. It is always exciting to see the
CMA team patrolling the beach to protect the sea turtles. We share in the hope of a
successful season for the turtle hatchlings and feel a responsibility to help protect them,”
said Duquet. “Our goal is to help raise funds for this effort and to grow a deeper
understanding of how humans can positively influence the success of the hatchling
season.” The sea turtle nesting season takes place along the Gulf beaches from May-October annually.
