• Pinellas County plans to close seven schools and merge others due to lack of enrollment (wusf.org) — Families in Tarpon Springs could see Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary closed under a new Pinellas County plan responding to falling enrollment and birth rates. The proposal would shutter seven schools, repurpose some campuses as magnets or K-8 centers, and is projected to save $25 million annually. Community meetings start Monday, with a final school board vote expected October 13.
