After parent outcry, Pinellas school board open to changing closure plan (tampabay.com) — Parents from Tarpon Springs packed the Pinellas school board meeting to push back against plans to close Tarpon Springs Fundamental and Tarpon Springs Middle and merge them into a K-8 campus. Board members signaled they're open to parent-driven alternatives, including relocating Tarpon Springs Fundamental, and will workshop changes on Oct. 6 before a final vote Oct. 13.
   

2. 🔱 To Hellas and back (dailycommercial.com) — A food writer reminisces about growing up on Greek cuisine in Tarpon Springs, praising the city's dense cluster of Hellenic restaurants and its rich sponge docks history. Their recent family visit included dinner at a longtime Sponge Docks staple and pastries from a beloved bakery, using Tarpon Springs' high standards to compare with a newly reopened Greek spot in Lake County.
   

3. Pinellas moves to preserve waterfront land once eyed for development (axios.com) — Pinellas County is moving to buy and permanently preserve 29 acres of mangrove-lined waterfront on Boca Ciega Bay, echoing last year's successful effort to protect the West Klosterman Preserve just south of Tarpon Springs. Funded through Penny for Pinellas, the deal still needs County Commission approval, and residents can learn more at a town hall Monday in Seminole.
   

4. Tomasz Kosowski trial: Prosecutors rest case after courtroom demonstration denied (fox13news.com) — A high-profile murder trial with ties to Tarpon Springs is nearing its conclusion, as prosecutors rested their case against Dr. Tomasz Kosowski and closing arguments were set for Wednesday. Investigators say surveillance video traced a cart from a Largo law office to Kosowski's Tarpon Springs home, where blood evidence was found, though the victim's body has never been recovered.
