People are either among those who remember where they were, ‘But Will Never Forget,’ or young and may not even know of 911. All are invited to come and experience from testimonies, First Responder Rites of Passage and spirited music what happened. It is our community’s opportunity to honor the 911 Fallen, their survivors, our veterans, active military and First Responders. Unity statements on AMERICA250 are included. Sarasota’s 25 Year Commemoration of September 11 AMERICA 250 Concert and Service to stand for our 9 / 11 Fallen is being held on Friday, September 11, from 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. in the Patriot Plaza at the Sarasota National Cemetery, <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/search/9820+State+Road+72,+Sarasota,+FL,+34241?entry=gmail&amp;source=g" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">9820 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL, 34241</a>. The Sarasota Ministerial Association in collaboration with the Diocese of Venice and Sarasota County Emergency Services is hosting the remembrance service. In the days leading up to the Commemoration, those planning to attend will be able to privately choose from the names of those killed on September 11 and represent each by standing, saying their name(s) during THE TOLLING OF THE BELL. People arriving before 4:55 pm, may place memorabilia of their chosen on the FALLEN PHOTO GALLERY. Come to witness our Sheriff, Police and Fire Chiefs, Commissioners, Clergy Prelates, the Ensemble of First United Methodist Church, the Knights of Columbus, ELKS, Military Officers and Veterans presenting. The Ensemble gathers our area' s accomplished professional musicians and vocalists. A procession of all clergy and distinguished 9 / 11 presenters will begin the service. The Commemoration continues the tradition that began, September 11, 2001, when the Sarasota Ministerial Association held a prayer vigil. During the morning attacks, Mayor Carolyn Mason called the Ministerial Association co-founder Chaplain Tom Pfaff to summon a prayer gathering for America. By 4:30 p.m., some 21+ clergy came to the Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park Sarasota War Memorial on the Bayfront to worship God and pray. Every five years since then, the Ministerial Association has become a lead organizer for the Commemoration. Special commemorative coins have been minted to mark the occasion, and will be presented to Sarasota’s First Responders, Veterans, active-duty military, Sarasota ELK Lodges, and 9 / 11 Survivors and Families in attendance. Town Square University Parkway is a unique senior center, adult day center, and community resource center located in Sarasota, Florida. Designed as an immersive 1950s-themed town, our 15,000-square-foot center provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for older adults while offering education, resources, and respite for caregivers. Our mission is to help older adults thrive through meaningful engagement, social connection, health support, and purposeful programming. We serve individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery, mild cognitive impairment, and other age-related conditions, while also welcoming seniors seeking socialization and community involvement. Unlike traditional adult day centers, The Club combines evidence-based programming with a nostalgic environment that encourages conversation, memory recall, creativity, and participation. Members can enjoy a variety of themed spaces including Rosie’s Diner, an Art Studio, Movie Theater, Library, Garden Shop, Recreation Center, Barbershop, and more. Each day is filled with activities designed to promote cognitive stimulation, physical wellness, social engagement, and emotional well-being. Town Square University Parkway is also a recognized leader in FREE caregiver education and support. We proudly offer a variety of free programs that are open to the public, including dementia caregiver support groups, Parkinson's support groups, Mild Cognitive Impairment support groups, grief and loss support, educational seminars, Memory Cafés, senior breakfasts, and community resource events. These programs provide families with trusted information, practical strategies, and meaningful connections to others navigating similar challenges. Our interdisciplinary approach includes partnerships with healthcare providers, rehabilitation specialists, behavioral health professionals, transport &amp; community organizations to ensure families have access to comprehensive support.
