Residents vocal about latest Venice Airport master plan (mynews13.com) — Venice's airport master plan is drawing concerns about aircraft noise and the future of affordable golf at Lake Venice Golf Club. Airport officials are considering more hangars and a digital tower, while the course faces higher rent if its lease is renewed after September 2028. Plans are due to be finalized by February 2027.

SMH, UHC at ‘impasse' on new Medicare Advantage deal (yoursun.com) — UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage patients could lose in-network access to Sarasota Memorial’s Venice hospital and other system providers Jan. 1 as contract talks stall. SMH urges patients to review options before Dec. 7 enrollment closes. Traditional Medicare and supplement plans are unaffected, and the insurer disputes SMH’s criticisms of its practices.
   

3. Snook Haven Park reopens with upgrades, but work remains (baynews9.com) — Snook Haven Park has reopened after a yearlong closure and $8.75 million in improvements, giving Venice residents their riverfront gathering spot back. Elevated facilities and more accessible walking paths are in place, while additional work remains. Public riverboat tours also hope to return before year's end under new ownership.
   

4. Sarasota area arts events this week include multiple festivals (heraldtribune.com) — Author Brad Meltzer will appear at Venice Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 as part of Sarasota County’s free Off the Page literary celebration. The countywide festival continues through Nov. 19, while the separate Living Arts Festival highlights area performances, including an upcoming Venice Symphony program.
   

5. SMH breaks ground on Venice rehab facility (yoursun.com) — Sarasota Memorial broke ground Friday on an $82.5 million rehabilitation pavilion at its Venice hospital, bringing more recovery services closer to patients' families. Scheduled to open in summer 2028, the pavilion will have 50 private patient suites and outpatient therapy, with spaces designed to help patients relearn everyday activities.
