2. West Palm Move: New electric transit fleet promises 10-minute service for $1 (wptv.com) — West Palm Beach is rolling out its new West Palm Move electric transit fleet, promising waits of no more than 10 minutes and $1 rides along Dixie Highway from Northwood to the Norton Museum area. A citywide on-demand service east of I-95 is also coming at $2 per ride, aiming to ease congestion and give residents cheaper, cleaner ways to get around.
3. West Palm Beach mayor gets ethics clearance for private business venture (wpbf.com) — West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James has received ethics clearance to pursue a new private venture capital fund, the West Palm Beach Rise Fund, while remaining in office under strict conditions. He must avoid fundraising personally, not solicit from city vendors, and steer clear of city matters that could benefit the fund, after proactively seeking guidance from the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics.
4. WHERE'S WALTER? Touring the Palm Beach Zoo with Miss America contestants (wptv.com) — Miss America contestants are in West Palm Beach this week, trading pageant prep for close-up animal encounters at the Palm Beach Zoo and drawing extra attention to local conservation efforts. A TV meteorologist tags along, highlighting a fellow weathercaster's disaster-preparedness platform and the Florida-like climate connections, as the city gears up for the Miss America competition happening locally this weekend.
5. Miss Alabama 2026 ready to make state proud at Miss America pageant: 'Excited and at peace' (al.com) — West Palm Beach will soon host Miss America, where Miss Alabama Ruby Tilghman plans to perform "I Dreamed a Dream" and compete for the 2027 crown at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on Sept. 6. Her detailed interview focuses on preparation, community service work in rural Alabama, and the support system following her to Florida for the finals.
