Shandra grew up in Mississippi and moved back to Florida in 1987. She holds an Associates in Business Management, Bachelor’s in Organizational Management, and Master’s in Nonprofit Management. Shandra became a serial entrepreneur by default as she struggled to provide for her daughter as a single mother. A woman of deep faith, Shandra can be found volunteering for her community by delivering food baskets to her neighbors in need, or organizing and leading the drive to host a local business marketplace so small business owners can get the chance to sell their wares. In the early 2000s, Shandra worked with the Belle Glade community and began consulting with grassroots organizations, the ones that were doing the frontline work in their neighborhoods.
Shandra’s community service work began at a young age at her church, and she cannot remember when she wasn’t advocating or helping out in some way. In 1997, Shandra experienced personal trauma and found herself and her baby girl to be homeless. This is when she says she had an “A-HAH” moment. She received help during this time from others and knew that she wanted to give back and pay it forward.

One of Shandra’s main passions is to make sure people in her community are safe, especially mothers. Due to her own personal history and as a survivor of domestic violence, Shandra will always focus on bolstering families and family dynamics. An authentic voice for the community where she resides, works and thrives, Shandra feels her experiences will hold a connection to those who want to see positive change in their community. “No matter what people try to tell you, politicians do not change communities, it’s the people in the communities that make the changes when they feel empowered to do so. We are in this together!”
