WPB Parks And Rec Accepting Sign-Ups For Upcoming Youth Sports Leagues

COVID-19 restrictions will include mandatory temperature checks for all athletes and staff before each game.

Registration is open for the City of West Palm Beachโ€™s fall youth basketball clinics, fall 3V3 youth basketball league and 2021 winter youth flag football league.

Fall 2020 Youth Basketball Clinics

  • Registration: through September 21, 2020 or until slots are full
  • Age divisions: Grades 2-4, grades 5-7
  • Season: September 21 - October 1, 2020
  • Where: South Olive Community Center, 345 Summa St.
  • Cost per player: $25 (resident), $35 (non-resident)

Fall 2020 3V3 Youth Basketball League

  • Registration: through September 25, 2020 or until slots are full
  • Age divisions: Grades 3-5, grades 6-8
  • Season: October 5 - November 5, 2020 (practices on Mondays, games on Thursdays)
  • Where: South Olive Community Center, 345 Summa St.
  • Cost per player: $60 (resident), $75 (non-resident)

Winter 2021 Youth Flag Football League

  • Registration: through November 6, 2020 or until slots are full
  • Age Divisions: Grades K โ€“ 1, grades 2-3, grades 4-5, grades 6-8
  • Season:
    • Skills clinic: week of November 9, 2020
    • Evaluations and draft: week of November 16, 2020
    • Practice: week of November 30, 2020
    • Games: week of January 4, 2021
    • Playoffs: week of March 1, 2021
  • Where: Gaines Park, 1501 N. Australian Ave.
  • Cost per player: $60 (resident), $75 (non-resident)

Additionally, as of August 1, 2020 there is a $25 annual registration fee for each household for participation in the Cityโ€™s athletics leagues. The Cityโ€™s Department of Parks and Recreation is also seeking volunteer coaches for the basketball and football seasons.

Following the latest CDC recommendations for COVID-19, the Parks and Recreation Department has implemented the following safety guidelines for youth sports:

  • Every athlete and staff member will undergo a temperature check prior to each game
  • Participants must wear a mask or facial covering until they reach the temperature checkpoint
  • Staff members are required to wear a mask
  • Hand sanitizer will be available for all participants
  • Parents/spectators must watch from outside of the fieldโ€™s fencing
