County Offers Cheap Afterschool Care for Westchase Area Kids

Online registration for Hillsborough County's Rec2Six program begins Aug. 5.

Westchase residents searching for affordable afterschool options for their kids might only have to turn to nearby parks for assistance.

Hillsborough County is kicking off registration for its Rec2Six afterschool programs beginning Aug. 5. The recreation-based program offers children a number of activities they can take part in while also delivering homework assistance, according to the county’s website.

The afterschool program begins Aug. 20 and runs from 2 to 6 p.m. on school days. It’s open to kids in kindergarten through the fifth grade and runs on the same calendar as Hillsborough County schools.

The cost is $38 a week, but price breaks are available for children on free or reduced lunches. For more details, check out the county’s website.
