Fire Guts Home Near Westchase

Breaking: The owners were away, and two cats possibly are missing.

TAMPA, FL – An early morning fire destroyed a 2,000-square-foot Tampa home today, and two cats, thought to possibly be on the premises, are missing, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Crews responded to a report of a roof fire at the residence on the 9000 block of North River Road, where no one was home as the owners were out of town, officials said.

Arriving firefighters used a defensive attack on the blaze, as they were unable to safely enter the property, and had it under control in approximately 45 minutes, the agency said.
