Tampa Bay High School Students Invited to Show Dangers of Distracted Driving in Video Contest

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and to recognize the importance of this campaign, AT&T is hosting an It Can Wait video contest.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and to recognize the importance of this initiative, AT&T is hosting an It Can Wait video competition.

Students from public and private schools in Tampa Bay – Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties - are invited to create two-minute videos to share their It Can Wait messages.

Students will have the chance to win bragging rights and $1,000 for a safe-driving program of their choice.
Tampa Bay it Can Wait Competition Rules & Guidelines Overview

Step 1:
To participate in the It Can Wait Video Competition, be a high school student in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk County school districts (public and private schools).
Step 2:
Create a video – no longer than 2 minutes – to upload for public viewing on Vimeo. The video will share your It Can Wait message and why it is important to keep your eyes on the road, not on your phone.

Step 3:
Develop a social media plan using Twitter that will generate as many retweets of your video as possible over the 6 day
competition period beginning 8am Saturday, April 22 and ending 5pm Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Consider things like:
Informing your followers in the weeks prior to the competition; Sharing your tweet via school and community newsletters and across other social media platforms and asking your community to help retweet when the competition goes live; and,
Begin actively using your Twitter account to safely and securely increase your followers to help your chapter win during competition week

Step 4:
To enter the contest, submit your 2-minute video, social media plan, name, school, and contact information to Karen
McAllister – karen.mcallister@att.com – by 8:00 a.m. EST April 19, 2017.

Step 5:
Initiate the campaign using a single tweet from your Twitter account or your school’s Twitter account on April 22 and track your progress using the hashtags #Contest and #ICWTampa. You are only allowed 1 official tweet to generate retweets for the competition, so make sure it’s creative and engaging.

Notify your AT&T contact – Karen McAllister; karen.mcallister@att.com) –when you have published social media content at the beginning of the competition. AT&T will track, but this step helps ensure we do not miss any initial posts.

Deadlines:
- 2-minute video must be submitted to Karen McAllister
(karen.mcallister@att.com) by 8:00 a.m. EST Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
- Post official tweet and send Tweet link to Karen McAllister
(karen.mcallister@att.com) after 8:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017.
- Competition closes at 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, April 27, 2017.
- Winner will be announced via Twitter on Monday, May 1, 2017.

Prize:
The group with the winning entry will nominate a nonprofit with a safe driving program to receive a $1,000 donation.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Provide video to karen.mcallister@att.com by 8:00 a.m. EST
Wednesday, April 19, 2017;
- Meet all deadlines;
- Videos may not include offensive language or otherwise offensive material.
- If you are under 18, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission and help to enter.
- Must follow school guidelines regarding social media and any and all guidelines applicable to Twitter and/or Vimeo.
- Must meet minimum age requirements applicable to use of Twitter, which is 13.

Social media post requirements:

media content at the beginning of the competition. AT&T
will track, but this step helps ensure we do not miss any

Remember: you are only allowed 1 tweet at the beginning of the competition.
To be eligible, retweets must include the competition hashtag #ICWTampa and
#Contest; and, Include the link to your video;
