David's Bridal To Lay Off Nearly 200 Georgia Employees
The news comes as the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and said it would lay off just over 9,000 workers.

GEORGIA —David's Bridal, a popular shop for wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and formal attire, plans to lay off nearly 200 workers in New York, according to a WARN notice Wednesday.
The notice was filed with the Technical College System of Georgia and comes as the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and said it would lay off just over 9,000 workers.
Nearly 200 David's Bridal staffers at multiple sites across Georgia will be affected by the layoff. A reason for the layoffs was not listed on the Georgia notice, but a WARN notice for David's Bridal's New York stores listed economic reasons.

The layoffs will be done in rounds. David's Bridal began laying off corporate employees Friday and will continue to do so in phases. Layoffs at the distribution centers will occur from June 12-26. Field/store employees will be laid off from June 12-Aug. 11.
Company representatives said in the notice the layoffs may be permanent depending on the outcome of sale efforts.

"(David's Bridal) is in the process of evaluating its strategic options, including a sale as a going
concern, a sale of certain assets and intellectual property or a potential wind-down of some or all
of the business and a resulting limited or company-wide reduction in force and job elimination
of employees within the state," read the WARN notice.
The affected stores and the number of employees that will be laid off for each store are as follows:
- 1705 Mall of GA Blvd., Buford: 24
- 440 Ernest W. Barrett Pkwy., Kennesaw: 48
- 1902 Mt. Zion Road, Morrow: 24
- 1625 Bass Road, Macon: 24
- 3671 Walton Way Ext., Augusta: 49
- 7925 Abercorn St., Savannah: 24
The number of affected employees was not listed, but layoffs will also take place at:
- 1850 Epps Bridge Pkwy., Suite 209, Athens
- 5450 Whittlesey Blvd., Suite 1, Columbus
- 3234 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta
