GA Good News: Teen Violinist, Gas Prices Drop, Rapper Ludacris Gets Honorary Degree
Good news stories in GA this week include a teen violinist accepted into prestigious music program and Ludacris to get an honorary degree.
GEORGIA — Not all news is sad or serious. There’s more happening in the world, which is why Patch wanted to take the opportunity to point out some of the lighter good news that has taken place this week throughout our Georgia Patch sites.
Those stories include a 14–year-old Gwinnett County violinist who was offered a coveted spot at the prestigious Brevard’s Music summer institute; Loganville has been selected for the filming of "Zoltar"; $1 million in scholarships has been awarded to metro Atlanta students by Sawnee EMC; and Georgia gas prices are continuing to drop.

Violinist, 14, Offered Coveted Spot At Brevard's Music Institute
A Central Gwinnett High School student was offered admission into the Brevard Music Center's 2022 High School Orchestral Institute. Fourteen-year-old violinist, Faith Meshida, is not only passionate about performing classical music, but she also wants to help create opportunities for other Black classical musicians.

Loganville's Main Street Temporarily Closed Due To 'Zoltar' Filming
Loganville’s Main Street was closed for several days this week for filming of Apple TV's "Zoltar." For the second time this year, Main Street was temporarily closed from Lawrenceville Road to Highway 78 for filming.
$1M In Scholarships Awarded By Sawnee EMC To Metro Atlanta Students
The Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation announced April 7 that it recently awarded 20 local high school seniors each with a $5,000 scholarship in support of its mission to support education in the areas served by Sawnee EMC.
Georgia Gas Price Average Continues To Drop: AAA
Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.76 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, according to AAA. Monday's state average is 11 cents less than a week ago, 50 cents less than last month and $1.05 more than this time last year.
No Tuition Hike At Most Georgia Universities Following Regents Vote
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia also voted to eliminate a mandatory special institutional fee charged since 2009.
Ludacris To Receive Honorary Degree From Georgia State University
Famous actor and rapper, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, will receive an honorary Bachelor of Science in music management May 4. According to the university, the famous actor and rapper will receive an honorary Bachelor of Science in music management.
