GA Plane Crash Critically Injures 2

One of two people who were critically injured in a plane crash was trapped in the wreckage in Georgia, fire officials say.

DAWSONVILLE, GA — Two people were critically injured in a plane crash Sunday afternoon in Dawsonville, according to the local fire department.

The small plane crashed in a wooded area near Elliot Air Field and Highway 183, trapping one of its occupants in the wreckage, Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services said. The second person who was injured was located outside the downed aircraft, fire officials said.

The person who was trapped had to be extricated while the other person received on-scene medical care, fire officials said. Both of them were taken to a hospital in critical condition, officials said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
