Pet Store Chain To Close 75 Locations: See Brand's GA Footprint
Despite the planned closures, the chain also opened three new stores in the second quarter of 2026.
Pet store chain Petsense intends to shutter about 75 stores, its parent company disclosed last week.
The Petsense brand is owned by Tractor Supply Co. and had over 200 locations in 23 states as of late June, mostly in the southeastern U.S.
There were 27 Georgia locations listed on the company’s website as of Thursday.

The stores that are closing cost more to operate than they were bringing in, Fast Company reported, citing Tractor Supply Co. CEO Harry Lawton.
“We believe these actions will improve returns, simplify business, and allow us to direct resources towards higher growth, higher return opportunities,” Lawton said on an earnings call last week, Fast Company reported, citing a PitchBook transcript.

In addition to Petsense, Tractor Supply Co.’s brands include online animal pharmacy Allivet and mobile veterinary provider VIP Petcare.
