Japan Tops Georgia In Little League World Series Consolation Game

WILLIAMSPORT, PA — A day after falling to Hawaii in the U.S. Championship, Georgia lost to Japan in a consolation game in the Little League World Series. The Peachtree City American Little Leaguers fell to Kawaguchi on 8-2.

Peachtree City (4-3) collected six hits on the day, including a double off the bat Jansen Kenty. Kenty, who was the team's offensive driver throughout the tournament, ended the day with two RBIs. Tai Peete and wills Maginnins scored the team's lone runs.

Starting pitcher Chase Fralick hurled 1.2 innings and allowed seven runs, but just one of those was earned. He gave up five hits and struck out a pair. Ben Traxler pitched 2.2 innings in relief and gave up one earned run on three hits.

For Japan (4-2), the offense slugged nine hits on the day — including four doubles. Masaumi Ikeuchi, Kai Nogami and Masato Igarashi were forces to be reckoned with. Ikeuchi had one hit, two RBIs and scored a run while Nogami had two hits — including a double — two RBIs and two runs scored. Igarashi had one hit — a home run — a walk and collected two RBIs. He scored once.

Igarashi also got the win, throwing 4 innings of shutout ball as the starting pitcher. He struck out five batters and allowed three hits.
