Wind gusts at 16 mph, tornadoes and hail up to 1 inch are possible hazards for most of the state Thursday.
GEORGIA — A wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Thursday for metro Atlanta counties in anticipation of severe thunderstorms and 16 mph wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service.
Ansley Long, meteorologist with the weather service's Peachtree City Office, told Patch the state is now in an enhanced three out of five risk for severe storms, forecast to enter the area before 3 p.m.
Forecasters are closely monitoring storms specifically coming from Mississippi and Alabama as those have potential to bring tornadoes with them, she said.
