Acworth Police Share Tips for Holiday Travelers
While you're on the road, make sure that burglars don't break in to your home by following this advice.
The Acworth Police Department has shared a list of home safety tips for holiday travelers which could make empty homes a less appealing target for burglars.
According to the list, things you can do to protect your home while you’re enjoying your vacation include using timers on lights and TVs, locking all doors and windows and using your home security system, parking a vehicle in the driveway, and keeping your Christmas tree and gifts away from windows.
Police say the most important home security step is to refrain from posting on social media about upcoming vacations, as burglars can read this information and break in while they know you’re gone.
