1. Powder Springs hosts 4th of July celebration with concerts, a festival, and fireworks (atlantaonthecheap.com) — Powder Springs is gearing up for a free Fourth of July festival with concerts, food trucks, kids activities, and a big fireworks show at Thurman Springs Park from 6–10 p.m. on July 4. Residents can bring blankets, chairs, and coolers, enjoy the splash pad and car show, and purchase alcohol within the Entertainment District, but pets, tents, and outside alcohol are not allowed.
   

2. Employees of downtown businesses in metro Atlanta city will get special parking (wsbtv.com) — Downtown Powder Springs workers will soon get 34 permit-only parking spaces near Thurman Springs Park, freeing up more on-street spots for visitors. The city will issue decals for eligible employees, and officials say the new program will begin in July without affecting handicap parking spaces.
   

3. Campus News: The Week of June 27 (mdjonline.com) — Powder Springs students are racking up academic honors, with three locals earning law degrees from Georgia State and another completing a master’s in sport administration at Belmont University. Additional Powder Springs scholars made the Dean’s list at East Tennessee State, alongside many neighboring students from Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna, and other Cobb communities.
   

4. Cobb County Adds 57 New Businesses Across Multiple Industries (cobbcountycourier.com) — Several new businesses tied to Powder Springs addresses just received Cobb County licenses, including services on New Macland Road, Brownsville Road, and neighborhood-based consultants and retailers. The broader list shows 57 new operations countywide, highlighting growth in professional services, health care, construction, and small specialty shops that Powder Springs residents may soon see serving the area.
   

5. Americans off to strong start in singles at IBF World Youth Championships in Malaysia (bowl.com) — Powder Springs bowler Erin Klemencic is shining on the world stage, sitting fifth in Girls’ Singles after the opening round of the IBF World Youth Championships in Malaysia. Her strong six-game performance keeps her firmly in contention for match play as Junior Team USA advances through a packed week of international competition.
