Acworth's New Police Headquarters Open to Public Wednesday Afternoon

The Acworth Police Department has been at the new facility since Sept. 22, and wants to give residents a tour of their new home.

The Acworth Police Department will be opening the doors of their brand-new headquarters building to the public during an open house event on Wednesday afternoon.

The facility at 4400 Acworth Industrial Drive will be opened to the public from 3 to 8 p.m. Residents will be given a chance to explore the 22,000 sq. ft. space which was built with $3.8 million in SPLOST funds. The official ribbon-cutting at the new facility will take place at 6:30 p.m., the department’s Facebook page reports.

The last facility built specifically as Acworth’s police headquarters was constructed in 1934 with New Deal money, The Marietta Daily Journal reports.

In 1995, the department moved from the 1934 building to a repurposed office building, but in the last decade the department outgrew that space. The growth of the department has paced the growth of the city, which is the fastest growing in Cobb County.
