Alleged Cobb Cop Car Thief Finally Booked
The woman was in the hospital recovering from injuries she received when she crashed the police cruiser she stole from police.

The Decatur woman who allegedly stole a Cobb County police cruiser and led authorities on a high-speed chase down Interstate 75 before wrecking in downtown Atlanta earlier this month has finally been remanded to the Cobb County jail.
According to jail records, Emmerli Wilcoxson was booked on Aug. 15 after spending the previous five days at Grady Memorial Hospital receiving treatment for head injuries she received when she allegedly crashed the stolen police car into the back of another vehicle while trying to get off Interstate 75.
On Aug. 10, Wilcoxson was pulled over by Cobb County police at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Windy Hill Road. According to Officer Mike Bowman, when officers approached Wilcoxson, she managed to get in their patrol car and flee the scene.

Wilcoxson sped down Interstate 75, with police in hot pursuit. Witnesses told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Wilcoxson’s cruiser reached speeds of 100 mph. She attempted to exit the interstate at North Avenue, but plowed into the rear end of a Chevrolet Cavalier, sending both vehicles into the concrete wall. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. Wilcoxson then got out of the totaled cruiser and charged at police before being subdued and arrested.The driver of the Cavalier has sustained severe injuries to his lower body.
Wilcoxson is facing a laundry list of charges, including interference with government property, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and DUI. Her bail has been set at $90,000.

The 41-year-old is no stranger to law enforcement; Wilcoxson was allegedly shot by police who feared for their safety during an altercation in North Carolina in October of 2010.
