Acworth Explorers Win at MACE

On October 13, 2012, Acworth Explorers competed in the annual Metro Atlanta Competition for Explorers (MACE).

MACE is an annual competition that has been hosted the past 11 years by the Smyrna Police Explorers at the North Central Law Enforcement Academy in Austell.

This year Acworth Explorers entered two teams of explorers to compete in seven different events. The events included DUI Traffic Stop, Buy/Bust Take Down, Domestic Dispute, Active Shooter, Missing Persons, Unknown Trouble, and Hostage Negotiations. The post has been training for this event for the past four months and this year the competition was challenging. Acworth Explorers did excel in the missing persons investigation and took away a first place trophy for their efforts.

Now, Acworth Explorers have turned their attention to the Southeast Regional Law Enforcement Explorers competition held in Gatlinburg, TN, every February. This event draws over 3,000 explorers from all over the Southeast to compete in more than 20 different events. Last year Acworth Explorers brought home a first place trophy in Hostage Negotiations and hope to repeat that performance again this February.
