The Acworth Police Department is seeking items for display in the “Old Acworth Jail” located on Senator Russell Ave in Acworth. The department is asking local residents to look through their belongings and see if they would have any items that may assist in documenting the history of the Acworth Police Department and the old jail facility.
Items of interest may include old photos, newspaper articles, and Acworth Police items such as uniforms and badges. Photos and other such items can be copied and returned to the owner. The rest will be placed on display in the old jail.
The “Old Jail’ facility was built in 1935, and was in use as a jail facility until 1995. The building still contains the original cells, and is listed as an historical landmark.
