At UWG: Shape Note Singing Workshop for Music Teachers & Students

A music workshop on African American shape note singing, this should be of particular interest to music teachers and students in middle and high schools. It will be in the lower level of the Z-6 dining hall.

Enter the campus at the east entrance.  The parking area to use is the second area on the left. Look for the signs and attendants that will help direct you to the event.

The Center for Public History’s Regional Music Project is documenting this distinctive style of singing. With support from he Georgia Humanities Council and the Warren P. and Ava F. Sewell Foundation, the Center is producing a CD focusing on this tradition. It is schedule for release in December 2011.
