Father and Son Jailed for Marietta Apartment Complex Shooting

Corey Leroy Hughes, Sr. and Corey Leroy Hughes, Jr. have been charged in the shooting at the Lorene Lodge apartment complex on Wednesday.

Cobb County police have arrested a father and son who they believe were responsible for a shooting that left a man severely wounded earlier this week.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Corey Leroy Hughes, Sr. and Corey Leroy Hughes, Jr. are in custody following a shooting at the Lorene Lodge apartment complex off of Austell Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officer Mike Bowman told the AJC that the victim, whose name has not been released yet, may have suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. The victim is receiving treatment at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Cobb County jail records show the elder Hughes, 44, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, reckless conduct, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Hughes, Jr., 20, faces two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, reckless conduct, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Neither man has been granted bond.
