HGTV's Property Brothers Help Family Move to Acworth

While one of the reality TV stars helped renovate the Smith family's old home, the other brother was scouting out a new home for the clan.

The Smith family are new residents of Acworth, thanks in part to assistance from HGTV and its famous Property Brothers.

As part of the television show “Buying and Selling,” Jonathan and Drew Scott were enlisted to help the Smiths both renovate their old home in Mableton and look for a new place to live that would accommodate their growing family.

Kim Smith, who grew up in the Mableton house, applied to be on the program over a year ago. Before they arrived, Kim was spending four hours each day driving her children to different schools, The Marietta Daily Journal reports.

Following the Scotts arrival in August, Jonathan got to work remodeling the Mableton home. A $10,000 renovation helped get the house sold for $195,000. Although the Smiths will be shown choosing a home in East Cobb that Drew picked out for them when their episode airs on Sept. 10, the family later decided the home was too expensive for them. They instead bought a home in Paulding County with an Acworth mailing address for $220,000.
