Knife-Wielding Man Allegedly Attempted to Attack Southern Poly Student
The alleged incident occurred at a parking lot on campus at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

A man armed with a knife reportedly tried to attack a student at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta on Tuesday evening, WSB-TV reports.
According to the station, the attempted attack was made in a parking lot on the school’s campus at roughly 6 p.m. on Sept. 16. Hornet Alert, the campus police’s optional student notification system, sent out an alert on Facebook at 6:43 p.m. Tuesday advising students that a crime was in progress.
The alert warned students not currently on the campus to avoid coming, and requested that students on the campus should shelter in place. The alert was lifted at 6:48 p.m.

WSB-TV talked to several Southern Poly students, who praised the school’s alert system and felt that officials were doing their best to protect those on campus.
