MUST Ministries hoping groups will provide canned goods to restock shelves

MUST is asking groups to pledge one ton of unexpired canned goods to help make up a deficit so people in need will have enough to eat.

As a result of the rain during the North Georgia State Fair food drive, MUST Ministries is asking groups in the community to help meet a serious deficit in canned goods for those in need. Corporations, churches, neighborhoods and other groups are being challenged to each “Pledge a Ton. Feed the Need” to recoup the 25-ton shortfall.

Groups are being asked to pledge to raise one ton of food – equal to one 4’ x 4’ x 4’ pallet box - by the end of the month so the most vulnerable clients at each of MUST’s program services locations and Cobb County school pantries will have enough to feed their families.

“Unfortunately, the rainy weather resulted in only a third of the canned food usually collected at the Fair to benefit MUST’s clients,” according to Dr. Ike Reighard, President and CEO of MUST . “Our food pantries alone serve more than 330,000 lbs. of food to 18,900 men, women and children each year, so the 25-ton deficiency is significant. Our clients count on the community’s support.”
