Pedestrian Killed In Crash While Crossing Cherokee Highway

ACWORTH, GA — A man died after being hit while crossing Highway 92 in an unlit area Friday morning, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

The deadly crash happened around 6 a.m. on Highway 92, east of Interstate 75. Authorities said the man was wearing dark-colored clothing when he walked from a hotel toward a local gas station.

The man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. He was not identified, pending next-of-kin notification.

Authorities noted the driver remained at the scene following the fatal crash. They have not announced any potential charges.
