UPDATE: Storms Cause Power Outages in Cobb County

Wednesday's spate of severe weather had knocked out electricity for hundreds of Georgia Power customers in Cobb County.

UPDATE (5:26 p.m.): The Georgia Power outage map reports that 58 Cobb County customers are without power as of 5:19 p.m.

UPDATE (3:53 p.m.): The Georgia Power outage map reports that 606 Cobb County customers are without power as of 3:50 p.m.

UPDATE (3:37 p.m.): The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Cobb County which will expire at 4:15 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:19 p.m.): More than 500 Georgia Power customers in Cobb County have lost electricity due to severe weather which barreled through the county on Wednesday afternoon.

Georgia Power’s outage map, last updated at 3:09 p.m. Wedensday, showed 513 customers had been affected by power outages. The largest single grouping of outages is between Lower Roswell and Paper Mill roads in East Cobb, where 275 customers have lost electricity. Georgia Power estimates the restoration of services in this area will take at least two hours.

76 customers between Wakita Drive and Deer Creek Trail in Smyrna have lost power, as well. Service will be restored to this area by approximately 5 p.m.

All told, some 6,607 Georgia Power customers are currently without power.
