The annual WSB Care-a-Thon benefitting the Aflac Cancer Center is coming up, and the Acworth community has a patient and family that will be featured on-air. The Care-a-Thon will feature popular on-air personalities, special guests and inspiring interviews with patients, all encouraging listeners to make donations. The event will broadcast for 37 hours, from 5 a.m. on July 20 until 6 p.m. on July 21, and will broadcast on 95.5 FM and AM 750.
When Acworth resident Emmalee began to appear extremely pale and was consistently complaining of being tired, her mother Kim decided to take her in for a checkup. On Saturday, January 17th 2015, within 24 hours of arriving at Children’s, Emmalee was diagnosed with B Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She began an 8-month chemotherapy blast just two days later on Monday, January 19th and now has just two months remaining before she will begin maintenance, the next step to returning to a normal, healthy 12 year old. Emmalee and her family are looking forward to participating in the Care-a-Thon to help raise life-saving funds for future Aflac patients.
