UPDATE: Woman Steals Cobb Police Car, Leads Chase Down I-75

The woman was finally stopped and arrested in Atlanta.

UPDATE (5:00 p.m.): The Cobb County Police Department has released additional information about the woman who allegedly stole a Cobb police cruiser.

According to Officer Mike Bowman, officers were sent to the intersection of Interstate 75 and Windy Hill Road in reference to a suspicious armed woman. When the officers arrived and made contact with the woman, she was somehow able to enter the police cruiser and take off with other officers in pursuit.

During the chase down Interstate 75, the woman exited at North Avenue and Spring Street. Once off the interstate, she allegedly struck a number cars, injuring several people. Police were eventually able to stop the stolen cruiser and take the woman into custody. Her identity has yet to be revealed.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE (4:40 p.m.): A woman led Cobb police on a wild ride after she stole one of their cruisers and sped down Interstate 75 Sunday afternoon.

Cobb police spokesman Michael Bowman told Patch that the woman, who has yet to be identified, was pulled over by police near Interstate 75 at Windy Hill Road. During the traffic stop, the woman allegedly got into the officer’s patrol car and drove off down the interstate.

The woman led police down the interstate and made it to Atlanta before she was finally stopped and arrested. She is now in custody.
