2 Women Found Shot To Death in Milton

Police made the discovery Tuesday afternoon during a welfare check at a home in the 5200 block of Deer Creek Place.

MILTON, GA -- Milton police detectives are investigating the grim discovery of two women found dead inside a home Tuesday afternoon.

Officers with the agency responded around 2:55 p.m. Aug. 2 to the 5200 block of Deer Creek Place to conduct a welfare check "in reference to a suspicious odor coming from the residence," Milton police spokesperson Lt. Charles Barstow said Wednesday evening.

Officers entered the home and found two women dead from apparent gunshot wounds, Barstow added. A preliminary investigation indicates the women lived at the home and "are related," he stated.

Detectives are currently treating the case as an apparent murder-suicide. However, both bodies were transported to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office, and investigators are awaiting positive identification on both individuals as well the official cause of death.

This is the first homicide investigated by the Milton Police Department in 2016, the agency noted.
