Alpharetta Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration Set For Dec. 2

The city's festivities will begin at 4 p.m., with the tree lighting scheduled for 6:15 p.m.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The city of Alpharetta is putting the final touches on its annual celebration that will welcome the 2017 holiday season to its jurisdiction. The city's Christmas Tree Lighting program will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Activities kick off at 4 p.m. and you can expect this celebration to include a visit and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, community holiday performances, Alpharetta Christmas Farmers Market, food trucks, a snow playground and a fire for roasting marshmallows on Old Roswell Street, free children's crafts and a chance to watch the live broadcast of the SEC Championship game between Georgia and Auburn.

Musical performances will begin at 5 p.m. on the community stage, which will be set up along Milton Avenue at Canton Street/Roswell Street. You can expect to see appearances made by Alpharetta Community Chorus, Dance Now, City of Alpharetta Rhythm n' Shoes, Kings Ridge Christian School, ,Prima Rhythmic Gymnastics, Alpharetta High School Momentum & Hype, Alpharetta Christian Academy, Bridgeway Christian Academy and Alpharetta Elementary Chorus.

At 6 p.m. Mayor David Belle Isle and his family will lead a read along of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," and the lighting of the Christmas tree will be held at 6:15 p.m.

Free parking will be available at Alpharetta City Hall at 2 Park Plaza and the Milton Center at 86 School Drive.

Please note that the event will require the following road closures to be implemented from 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 to 4 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3:

  • Milton Avenue from S.R. 9 to Roswell St/Canton St
  • Old Roswell Street
  • Old Canton Street
