ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Alpharetta Councilman Jason Binder announced his candidacy for re-election this week with a personal message to Alpharetta residents.

"Four years ago, I committed to advocate for the priorities of Alpharetta residents and do
my part to build a great community to call home," Binder said. "It has been an honor to serve Alpharetta as your Council Member over the past few years. I continue to be humbled by the faith that you place in me to make sure that the priorities of our residents are put first."

He said over the past few years, he has championed homeowner tax relief through the upcoming
homeowner exemptions, implemented ethics reform for public officials and sponsored
the Safe Hotels Ordinance to keep the community safe.

"We have invested in our quality of life by purchasing over 30 acres of park land while continuing to improve our neighborhood corridors to get home quickly and safely walk out of our neighborhoods," Binder said. "Alpharetta’s future is bright as we move into the next decade. However, we still have much to accomplish."

Binder said he is "energized" to work on the following key priorities for the city:

"We have a lot to look forward to in Alpharetta," Binder said. "I continue to be amazed by the passion and commitment of our community to keep Alpharetta a premiere city. Together, we can ensure that the interests of our residents are placed first and continue to make Alpharetta an even better community to call home."

His announcement comes days after Alpharetta councilman John Hipes announced he was also running for reelection, and last week when Alpharetta Mayor Jim Gilvin has announced that he is going to seek reelection for his role in November.
